Meet BEAR!
Bear is the King of Healing with Horses Louisiana! He is the head of our herd, strong, tough, powerful, yet gentle! Bear is a 12-year-old Thoroughbred, retired racehorse who was extraordinary in racing, winning large sums of money, but unfortunately was horribly injured, tearing a tendon in a leg, which forced him to retire. Bear persevered in his rehabilitation and is now a vital part of our program. He is always the one to insist on getting your attention, and he loves his treats more than any of the other horses!

Looking for “The One”
I began looking for my very first prospect; searching for that perfect horse. I was determined to find “The One!” Not even aware that this horse would be “The One” to find me and become the heart and soul of my dream.
I sorted through numerous retired Thoroughbreds and actually overlooked Bear in a group of about 40 horses, but he noticed me and persisted!!
He followed me, nudged me, gave me the sweetest eyes, and literally would not leave me alone. Needless to say, I picked him!
Fun Fact
Bear has a “heart-shaped” marking on his forehead, making him the perfect therapy horse!
He was “The One!”
Bear was a tremendous Thoroughbred and stronger than I could have imagined. Sadly, he came with a serious bowed tendon injury and, on top of that, had contracted the horrible disease, EPM, which nearly killed him. He was so ill when he arrived at our farm that he was literally falling down every few steps he made.
It took over a year to rehab this incredible guy, but it was well worth it!
